With 104 victories and 58 defeats, the Atlanta Braves had the best record in Major League Baseball going into the 2023 postseason. That was followed by a plethora of seemingly unbreakable offensive records in baseball history, whether set for a single season or throughout history, that were broken singly or in combination, occasionally more than once. But none of that mattered after the Braves lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in four games during the NLDS.
The Braves lost in the NLDS for the second time in as many years, this time to the Phillies. The team had won more than 100 games in the previous two seasons, but had fallen short of expectations after only winning 88 games, a division title, and eventually a World Series title back in 2021. The Braves, who are now the overwhelming favorites to win the World Series in the upcoming season, must now figure out how to prevent cutting their postseason short once more.
