Leeds United’s Archie Gray scored his first goal for the club on Friday night, propelling the Whites to a quick turnaround against Leicester City.
For the first time this season, the Whites are in a title chase, having closed the gap to six points on Friday against Leicester City.
With the caliber of the rosters on display between Daniel Farke’s and Enzo Maresca’s squads, the game at Elland Road was basically a Premier League duel in all but name, and the spectacle did not disappoint.

Maresca’s Foxes’ very restrictive out of possession plan meant that the away side controlled the game for extended periods of it, scoring in the 15th minute via Wout Faes’ back-post header from a flicked on corner.
Leeds had chances to draw level in the first half through Joel Piroe, Willy Gnonto, and Crysencio Summerville, but a combination of heavy touches, poor finishing, and tenacious last-ditch defending kept Leicester ahead heading into the second half.
After the break, it was more of the same as Leicester attempted to sting Leeds in transition, creating opportunities for their attackers that went begging.
Connor Roberts then punished Leicester’s poor finishing with a brilliant strike when the loose ball dropped from Georginio Rutter’s fine run, wrapping the ball into the far corner for 1-1.
It proved to be a complete turning point as Leeds now had their tails up and the Foxes collapsed, as Rutter again orchestrated, playing to Archie Gray, who drove forward and hit a low left-footed drive that took two deflections to wrongfoot Mads Hermansen, sparking absolute chaos in Elland Road:
Dan James’ free kick touched Patrick Bamford on its way past Hermansen, ending the game 3-1 and clinching a tremendous victory.

Fans of an older generation than me will recall moments and matches in Leeds’ history that sparked a better celebration and atmosphere, but this is the greatest I’ve seen.
The significance of the game, the caliber of competition in this league, the manner in which we ignited the comeback, and the individual who scored the 2-1 goal all contributed to a fantastic night.
It was far from our best effort this season, as Leicester had us beat for much of the game, but that doesn’t matter.
