Amad Diallo sends’massage’ to Sunderland ahead of the FA Cup semi-final.

Amad Diallo is anxious to message the former Sunderland ace following their FA Cup victory.

Amad Diallo has picked the one former Sunderland player he wishes to talk with after Manchester United advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Amad Diallo has long been valued at Sunderland, having scored 14 goals while on loan on Wearside last season. However, the admiration had not yet spread to Old Trafford.

The Ivorian’s appearances at Manchester United had been limited this season, but he was finally given the opportunity to make a difference when he came in late in their FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool at the weekend.

With the game looking set to go to penalties, Amad had suddenly put his name into Monday’s papers as he slotted home past Caoimhin Kelleher, sending the Red Devils to Wembley.

The 21-year-old was very quickly sent off for his celebrations and was forced to continue his delight in the dressing room, but he was joined by the entirety of Sunderland taking to social media to share their pride in their former loanee.

Speaking in a post-match interview (as per manchester.united265 on TikTok), Amad said: “We play against Coventry? Oh, I will meet my ex teammate, Ellis Simms. I played with him at Sunderland last season. Yeah, I’ll message him!”

How are Sunderland coping without Amad and Simms?

Last summer, Amad and Ellis Simms joined Sunderland on loan, however the latter was recalled by Everton after only six games together.

During their time on Wearside, the pair combined for 21 goals and five assists, and although it is encouraging to see them both flourishing, it is also a sobering reminder of how far we have fallen since then.

Simms only spent half a season at the Stadium of Light and scored seven goals, while only one player in the entire squad has reached that tally in an extra two and a half months this time round (Jack Clarke).Last season, Amad Diallo had the sixth-most successful dribbles in the Championship (62), trailing only Clarke (89) and Patrick Roberts (101).

It was always going to be difficult to replace such a talent, but Amad’s absence has left a major vacuum in the team, and it’s hard to see how we ever got by without him before he arrived.
