Leicester City are ready to lose their star player this summer as part of a double deal.

High-paid players such as Iheanacho, Ndidi, and Vardy may depart the Foxes despite their elevation.

However, given the strength of Leicester’s squad, many have predicted their promotion.

Many of Leicester’s players had been regulars in the top division for several years before their relegation last season.

Despite their continued presence, there have been several rumors that some of these players, such as Kelechi Iheanacho, will leave regardless of promotion.

The Nigerian striker had been heavily linked with a move away in January and last summer, and is likely to leave on a free transfer regardless of if Leicester are promoted.

This is most likely owing to his expensive pay and the fact that he is not Leicester City’s current first-choice striker.

But who else could accompany him?

Here’s a look at two players that could leave Leicester this summer.

Ndidi has been with Leicester for more than seven years, having joined from Genk in Belgium for £17 million in January 2017.

The Nigeria international has made over 250 appearances for the club, including a significant role in Leicester’s FA Cup victory in 2021.

The 27-year-old had been a fixture for the Foxes this season before suffering a major muscular injury that has kept him out of the squad for the duration of 2024.

His contract expires at the end of the season, and with reports of interest from Barcelona last summer and January, big teams will be sniffing about once more.

Leicester may also be unable to meet his wage demands if they offer him a new contract, even if promoted.

Jamie Vardy

Vardy is clearly a Leicester City club legend.

He has been with the club since the summer of 2012, when he came from Fleetwood Town, and has scored more than 180 goals in 450 appearances.

He scored 24 goals for Leicester during their infamous Premier League victory in 2015/16.

But Vardy is now at the age of 37, and with his contract also set to expire at the end of the season, it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal or retire.

Leicester are likely to be promoted, so questions are being asked as to whether Vardy still has the ability to play at Premier League level.

He has become more of an impact sub this season, so will Vardy be happy to more than likely be a benchwarmer in the Premier League, or will he retire?

Leicester would also have to look at the potential deal from a financial perspective too. Vardy is likely to be on high wages, and would probably still want more.

Even if Iheanacho leaves, the Foxes still have Patson Daka and Tom Cannon, so they won’t be short of strikers.

It’ll be intriguing to watch what happens to Vardy at the end of the season.
