Newcastle United player Bruno Guimaraes was questioned about Joelinton’s contract position at the club in an unusual manner.
Bruno Guimaraes is hoping that Newcastle United and Joelinton can reach an agreement on a new contract. Joelinton’s current contract ends at the end of next season, and there are concerns that he may have played his final game for the club if he fails to reach an agreement on a new term.
However, the Telegraph reported on Monday that there is ‘increasing confidence’ about a fresh agreement for the Brazilian. If an agreement can be reached, Joelinton is set to be one of the club’s best earners.
Rather uniquely, Guimaraes was asked about Joelinton whilst on a Twitch stream as he teamed up with fellow countryman Lucas Paqueta to play Call of Duty: Warzone. Guimaraes and Paqueta have a long standing relationship from their time at Lyon together and the West Ham midfielder was even pictured wearing a Newcastle United shirt at Guimaraes’ house before his move to the Hammers.
Guimaraes stated on the stream, “I hope Joe will sign. I hope so. Much to the pleasure of Newcastle United fans, Guimaraes also sang ‘Geordies’ to the tune of the Beatles’ Hey Jude, which has become a regular feature at home matches in recent seasons.
The 26-year-old has started all but one Premier League game for Newcastle this season, with his only absence coming away from the Vitality Stadium against Bournemouth, which he missed after receiving five yellow cards. He is only one booking away from a two-game suspension in the league and must avoid picking up another yellow card until Newcastle’s 32nd game of the season.
