Tennessee Vols hire new linebacker. Jordan Burns reject the jersey number assigned to him.

Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield, former Tennessee Vols, reconcile after an NBA battle.

Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield were crucial members of what may have been the most memorable squad in Tennessee basketball history. The tandem shined for the 2018-19 Volunteers, who were ranked first throughout the season for the longest period in program history, lasting four weeks and winning 19 games in a row.

Williams and Schofield have both continued to play in the NBA, the former with the Charlotte Hornets and the latter with the Orlando Magic. On Tuesday evening in Orlando, the two clubs faced off, with the Magic winning 112-92.

Afterward the game, Williams and Schofield exchanged jerseys and Schofield gave a quick shout out to Tennessee, which the Magic shared on their Twitter/X account.

Williams, a first-team All-American for the Vols in 2018-19, was selected 22nd in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He played with the Celtics for his first four seasons, helping them reach the NBA Finals in 2021-22. After being traded to Dallas in July 2023, he was traded to Charlotte on February 8, 2024, and has averaged 13.6 points per game with the Hornets.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Schofield with the 12th choice in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft and immediately traded him to the Washington Wizards. Schofield has been with the Orlando Magic since late 2021, following a stint in the G-League (developing league) in 2020 and 2021.

Williams and Schofield delighted Tennessee fans during their time in orange and white, and they were unquestionably among the most popular athletes of their generation. For one more night, it was thrilling to see the former Vols share the spotlight on a basketball floor.
