Andres Gimenez’s $106.5 million contract provides great value to the Cleveland Guardians.

In March 2023, the Cleveland Guardians signed Andres Gimenez, their promising second baseman, to a seven-year, $106.5 million deal.

Gimenez was 24 when he signed.

Gimenez had just had an American League All-Star and Rawlings Gold Glove-winning season at second base in 2022.

As reported by USA Today, Gimenez signed the second-largest contract in Cleveland baseball history. Only All-Star Jose Ramirez got a seven-year, $141 million contract in 2022.

Gimenez, 25, received the coveted Rawlings Platinum Glove for his outstanding 2024 season.

The Rawlings Platinum Glove is presented to each league’s finest defensive player.

The contract Gimenez signed included a $4 million signing bonus. The entire amount guaranteed is $106.5 million. The average annual value of his contract is $15,214,286.00.

Gimenez’ contract pays him $5,571,429 this season.

The Guardians hold a club option on Gimenez’ contract for 2030, at a value of $23 million.
