Providence College’s Jacque Harrington and Alyssa Twomey Earn BIG EAST Weekly Softball Awards
Providence, Rhode Island – It was revealed today (April 15) that Jacque Harrington (Bedford, N.H.) and Alyssa Twomey (Warwick, R.I.) earned BIG EAST Weekly accolades for their outstanding performances this week. Harrington was selected BIG EAST Player of the Week, and Twomey received Freshman of the Week honors. The two helped the Providence College softball team go 3-1 last week, including a three-game sweep of BIG EAST rival DePaul.
Harrington, a senior and co-captain for the Friars, concluded the week with a.583 batting average, 1.000 slugging percentage, and.643 on-base percentage in four games. Harrington was 5-for-9 with six RBI and six runs in the Friars’ three-game victory over DePaul last week. Harrington won her first BIG EAST weekly accolade of the season, and her sixth overall.
Twomey was a vital contributor for the Friars on both offense and defense this past weekend against DePaul. Towmey had a 1.27 ERA in 11.0 innings thrown. She struck out nine batters and allowed just six hits and two earned runs. Twomey had a.600 batting average, three hits,.800 slugging percentage, and.600 on-base percentage. She also helped the Friars with two runs scored. It was Twomey’s fourth BIG EAST weekly accolade of the season.
