The Red Sox could make a ‘flurry’ of moves due to injuries. According to Insider
What will Boston do to deal with the club’s huge injuries?
Could the Boston Red Sox look very different in the near future?
Boston is currently 13-10 on the season and has shocked many people, but it is dealing with a number of serious ailments. Furthermore, it appears that the Red Sox are injuring themselves more frequently with each passing game.
The Red Sox can’t seem to get a break and are currently without Nick Pivetta, Garrett Whitlock, and Lucas Giolito in the starting rotation. Boston is currently without first baseman Triston Casas, second baseman Vaughn Grissom, shortstop Trevor Story, third baseman Rafael Dever, and outfielder Tyler O’Neill, among others.
Boston might begin to receive reinforcements on Tuesday, with O’Neill and Devers approaching their return, but additional players could join the club shortly. According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, Boston may make a “flurry of roster moves,” although it is uncertain what they will do.
“Expecting a flurry of roster moves before Tuesday’s game in Cleveland,” Cotillo stated in a statement. “Some depth for the first base position is feasible. It’s hard to envision Tyler Heineman staying. There may also be a shuffle in the bullpen. There are forty men in play. It’s helpful that the (Worcester WooSox) are in Toledo, which is less than two hours away from Cleveland.”
It’s uncertain exactly what the Red Sox will do, but it’s clear that the club needs to add some more depth to the roster due to injuries. There still are some intriguing players available in free agency and also some good depth in the minor leagues. Don’t be surprised to see some new names in Boston soon.
