Georgia sent a troubling message to Providence Friars after signing JABRI ABDUR-RAHIM.

Jabri Abdur-Rahim committed to Providence College on Monday afternoon, becoming the Friars’ third transfer signing.

Jabri Abdur-Rahim, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound swingman from South Orange, New Jersey, announced his intentions about midday on Monday. Abdur-Rahim played for Georgia during the 2023-24 season and faced Providence in the Bahar Mar Tournament in the Bahamas on November 19. Abdur-Rahim played 27 minutes in that game, which PC won 71-64, shooting 3-6 from three and scoring nine points.

A consensus Top 50 prospect in the Class of 2020, Abdur-Rahim was rated #38 overall by ESPN and in the 247Sports composite, #41 by 247Sports and #45 by Rivals. A two-time All-State selection, Abdur-Rahim was named the Gatorade Player of the Year after his junior year in 2019. Playing at Blair Academy in his final two seasons, Abdur-Rahim averaged 16 ppg and 8.7 rpg and led Blair to the New Jersey Prep A state title as a junior. His senior season was curtailed by injuries, but he averaged 31.5 ppg and 5 rpg in the two games that he did play.

Abdur-Rahim is a consensus Top 50 recruit in the Class of 2020, ranked #38 overall by ESPN and the 247Sports composite, #41 by 247Sports, and #45 by Rivals. Abdur-Rahim, a two-time All-State pick, was named Gatorade Player of the Year after his junior season in 2019. His senior season was cut short by injuries, but he averaged 31.5 points and 5 rebounds in the two games he did play.

Abdur-Rahim committed to Virginia on July 10, 2019, and chose the Cavaliers over the likes of Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Villanova, Marquette and Maryland. During his freshman season, he helped then Cavs capture the ACC regular season title and participated in the NCAA Tournament. Looking for more playing time, he transferred to Georgia. As a sophomore in 2021-22, he played in 32 games, started three, averaged 6.9 ppg and 3.2 rpg, while shooting 33% from three. Highlights included 20 points in 18 minutes against Wofford, and 13 points against Mississippi State and Alabama.
