“Ready to Leave”: Georgia Bulldogs star player signs two-year contract with Atlanta Braves

Georgia Bulldogs star leads hopefuls at Falcons’ local pro day.

The Falcons have hosted approximately a dozen draft prospects on top 30 visits, and today the team will have a local pro day.

There will be almost 60 Georgia-based candidates at Flowery Branch. Essentially, you must have attended a metro Atlanta high school or one of the state’s main schools.

The team’s website contains a complete list of the players scheduled to attend, although the most notable NFL prospects are Ladd McConkey, Javon Bullard, Daijun Edwards, and Kendall Milton, all of whom are former Bulldogs.

Edwards and Milton are both expected as Day 3 picks, but the league’s running back position does not discriminate based on draft position. The Falcons are a prime example. Tyler Allgeier is a former Day 3 pick and holds the franchise record for rookie rushing yards.

Javon Bullard is considered undersized at 5-foot-10 and under 200 pounds, but he ran a 4.47 40-yard dash and plays much bigger than his size. His mind might be his most impressive asset, and as a safety, that can’t be talked about enough.

Ladd McKonkey is the headliner, though. He was limited to just nine games due to back and ankle injuries, but even in those contests, he wasn’t 100% and still put up 478 yards and two scores.

He is a skilled route runner with deceptive speed and excellent short-area quickness. Depending on the offense, McKonkey should be able to carve out a solid role in the NFL.

The Falcons have the advantage of being in one of, if not the most densely populated talent-rich states in the country. The club will take a thorough look at all 59 local prospects, since there is almost certainly a diamond in the rough.
