“So sad to see him go,” said Sydney Kings player Declear for the 2024 NBA draft.

Jordan Hunter has signed a three-year contract with a mutual option with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

The South East Melbourne Phoenix have signed Jordan Hunter, a two-time NBL champion.

The 27-year-old was a key member of Sydney’s NBL23 title-winning team under Chase Buford, and he has spent his whole NBL career with the Kings after graduating from the legendary Australian collegiate program, Saint Mary’s.

He became Sydney’s starting center in NBL24 after seasons supporting Boomers icon Andrew Bogut and immigrant Tim Soares, and he has appeared in 127 NBL games overall.

Hunter is presently playing for Latvian side Rigas Zelli during the NBL off-season, averaging 10.3 points and seven rebounds per game in 28 NBL24 games.

According to Phoenix General Manager of Basketball Simon Mitchell, Hunter is ready to “explode” in Phoenix.

“Jordan has shown what he is capable of on court in arguably the toughest position, he is at the perfect period in his career to explode and dominate,” he said.

“The Phoenix are looking forward to Jordan forming a pivotal piece of our team puzzle moving forward.”

Hunter has joined Nathan Sobey and fellow former King Angus Glover as new signings at the Phoenix.
