Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins quarterback, is poised to get a big contract extension in the coming months. However, based on how the 26-year-old has handled himself leading up to a huge season, you wouldn’t know.
At his third annual “Luau with Tua” event, hosted by the Tua Foundation, the Dolphins’ star quarterback answered a variety of questions about his contract situation, his new quarterback coach (Spoiler Alert: John Beck), and some of his offseason goals. However, what jumped out to me the most was Tua’s enthusiasm for his future in Miami.

“This definitely seems like home for me. I’ve mentioned this before, but this is where both of my children were born. This is where Anna and I will raise our family. And here is the city that chose me as their quarterback, and I am grateful and honored. I take none of this lightly. So, this is absolutely my home.”
Tua has had a busy offseason, continuing to train hard to improve his talents. As previously stated, he’s working with John Beck and Tom House at 3DQB this summer and aims to expand on his league-leading season in 2023. But, at the end of the day, only one thing truly matters to Tua and the fanbase, and it is not individual honors. It’s playoff victories and division championships.
“Individual accolades are super cool,” Tua remarked ahead of Miami’s 26-7 WildCard loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. “They are great. But if we had won all of our games, I would have exchanged it for that. If I’d passed for 200 yards all season and we’d been 17-0, I believe anyone would have done the same. Yeah, it’s wonderful, but it doesn’t mean you won or completed your goals as a team.”
For the first time in a long time, I believe the Dolphins have a legitimate quarterback. Now, we need Tagovailoa to accomplish what we all know he can do: lead the Dolphins to the AFC East Championship and their first postseason victory in almost 20 years. #InTuaWeTrust
