This season, the Boston Red Sox’s fate is uncertain. Boston has shown flashes of potential and has enough skill on its roster to make the playoffs.

Rosario has been excellent for the Rays this season, but it would not be shocking if the Rays trade him considering he will be a free agency at the end of the year. This is one of the reasons he could be a good fit with the Red Sox.
Boston does not have long-term problems at shortstop, but rather a short-term need. The Red Sox lost shortstop Trevor Story for the season, but he should return next year. Marcelo Mayer, a high prospect, might make his debut this season or next.
Landing someone like Rosario could allow the Red Sox to move Ceddanne Rafaela back to the outfield while bringing in a proven veteran.
