The Chicago Bears have named their starting quarterback for 2024.
The Chicago Bears will not have any quarterback competitions. After drafting Caleb Williams, the best quarterback prospect in the NFL in a long time, the Bears coaching staff swiftly announced that Williams would be the day one starting.
The Chicago Bears have named Caleb Williams as their first-day starter.
It is not surprising that Bears head coach Matt Eberflus announced to the media on Friday that Caleb Williams has been anointed the team’s starting quarterback. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will start at center in week one.
Williams went No. 1 overall in the 2024 draft, and like many number 1 picks before him, he will be the day 1 starter. Williams has also ben touted as one of the best prospects of all time. The Bears are also built perfectly for a young quarterback. They have support all around Williams with some of the best weapons in the NFL.
Coach Eberflus and team are fully ready to give the keys to the castle to their number 1 pick:
“No conversation,” Eberflus told reporters Friday. “He [Williams] is the starter.”
This of course the right decision as Williams is too talented and too big of a star already to ever sit and wait on the bench. If this team wants to become real contenders in the league they need to start him right away.
The Caleb Williams Era Has Begun
Williams seems to have everything it takes to be a franchise quarterback and perhaps even a superstar in the league. He will thankfully have both D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen to help support him. Moore raved about his new quarterback saying that the sky is the limit to what this team can do immediately:.
“Anticipation is there,” Moore said. “You can tell that he’s expecting us to be open at a certain time. That’s gonna be one of the things that’s better. Just gotta be on the same page with him going forward. It’s just gonna take some time. Maybe it’s gonna be fast, or it might take some time. But I’m hoping it’s fast.”
Williams has all the talent in the world and there seems to be something brewing in Chicago. Only time will tell if he can live up to the hype, but now we officially know that Williams is the starter.
