Kyle Larson was on a high after winning at Sonoma Raceway and appeared to have the race-winning vehicle at Iowa Speedway until a collision. Larson is currently eight points behind teammate Chase Elliott in the point standings heading into the USA TODAY 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
However, does the past indicate that Larson will have better success in Loudon this weekend? In 2023, Larson ran strongly and finished third behind Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano. In Stage 2, the driver of the No. 5 vehicle came in second. Meanwhile, the 2022 event performed well for two stages before finishing 14th. Finally, Larson finished seventh in his debut race with Hendrick Motorsports in New Hampshire.
The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion doesn’t have as much speed at New Hampshire as other tracks, but the potential is present. Larson has displayed more speed than Elliott in Loudon, which could be beneficial in his push for the points lead. Larson may not be the favorite to win, but the No. 5 team can never be counted out.
