Zverev reveals who was the only coach who truly helped him… and surprises everyone

Alexander Zverev continues his quest to win his first Grand Slam, a goal he has pursued for nearly a decade with the help of several coaches throughout his career. However, he struggled to form a bond of trust with many, leading to dismissals and his father stepping in to take the lead indefinitely in recent months. In an interview with Sascha revealed who was the coach that helped him the most… and has Spanish origins:

“Beyond my father, David Ferrer was the one who truly helped me. My work with the rest of the coaches was not successful,” Sascha pointed out, recalling that the reason for their breakup was that David didn’t want to travel many weeks a year (especially during COVID times). Not only that: the German player criticized one of his former coaches, Ivan Lendl. “Ivan had a new dog and all he did was teach it how to use the toilet. That was his main interest. And golf,” remarked Zverev, who also left the door open for Boris Becker to advise him in the future, stating that the only issue is “his travels” and that once this aspect is resolved, they could discuss a potential partnership.
