IAN ANDERSON,

IAN ANDERSON,
The leader of Jethro Tull, in a recent statement to the LOC (The Other Chronicle) of the newspaper El Mundo, made some of his views firm. Confident of himself and his work, this is a summary of some of his statements:
“I am not interested in introducing myself to the new generations. If someone doesn’t know who I am, they’d better go and listen to Ed Sheeran and his ear-pleasing music. Mine is different. It’s a hard, complex, deep listening experience…. Most musicians write songs about relationships or about being in love…. And then there are those who try to create a stage, tell a story, create images, talk about other worlds that people are not familiar with.”
The Grammy he received in 1989, he simply played down the importance saying, “I don’t care about that kind of thing. I’m not a trophy hunter.”
On rock stars he pointed out strongly: “I consider most rock stars to be fools. People like that thing about singers living a wild life and breaking the rules, that they’re sort of James Dean with electric guitars. That they’re like Mick Jagger and Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden. But we’re not all like that. In fact, neither is Dickinson. That man is educated and studious, whereas Jagger just has this miraculous ability to get people to pull their trousers up and down.”
Anderson, a doctor of literature, is considered one of the most cultured men in the music industry. After a recording silence of almost 20 years with Jethro Tull, he has released one album a year since 2022 and next year plans to release another. “I have the concept in my head. But it’s not ready. We’re going to record it in January and hopefully it will see the light in October 2024. But I don’t want to talk about it. I never do. Even my wife hasn’t commented on it,” he finished. Okay.Back by popular demand! I know this one’s not for everyone, but for those who loved it, it’s available again. Who’s grabbing one?
