Texas Longhorns are getting in Georgia’s way for two top recruits

Georgia football is staying hot on the recruiting trail.

Georgia football has finally hit their stride in recruiting this offseason as Kirby Smart and his staff have earned multiple transfer portal commitments this week. This includes earning a commitment from their second wide receiver out of the portal as well as getting a commitment from the brother of a current player.

And while recruiting the transfer portal feels like the most important thing for Georgia right now, recruiting the 2026 high school class is just as important.

Smart and his staff have put an emphasis on recruiting this high school class in recent weeks, and that hard work was rewarded on Wednesday as two of the best players in the country gave the Bulldogs some great news.

4-star RB Javian Osborne

The first recruit that gave Georgia some good news on Wednesday is four-star running back Javian Osborne

.

According to On3, Osborne is the No. 61 overall recruit in the country. He also is the No. 5 running back in the 2026 class as well as the No. 6 player from his home state of Texas.

Osborne announced his top 10 schools on Wednesday, and Georgia made the cut according to Hayes Fawcett with On3. Texas, Oregon, SMU, Texas A&M, Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee, Alabama and Notre Dame join the Bulldogs in Osborne’s top 10 as well.

On3 currently lists Texas as the favorite to win this recruitment, giving them a 79.9 percent chance to do so. 247Sports agrees that Texas is the favorite as the Longhorns have one crystal ball prediction in their favor on their recruiting site as well. But there is still plenty of time for Smart and his staff to work their magic with Osborne, so look for Georgia to continue to pursue Osborne and try to bring him on campus for a visit in the near future.

5-star OT John Turntine

The second recruit to give Georgia some great news on Wednesday is five-star offensive tackle John Turntine.

Turntine is one of the top prospects in the entire 2026 class as On3 has him as their No. 15 overall recruit. He also is the No. 4 offensive tackle in the his class as well as the top ranked recruit from the state of Texas.

Similalry to Osborne, Turntine also put Georgia in his top 10 schools according to Hayes Fawcett. Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Stanford, Oregon, Texas A&M, Missouri, Tennessee and SMU are the nine other schools to make the cut for Turntine as well.

On3 once again has Texas as the favorite to win this recruitment, but they are even more confident with this prediction as they give the Longhorns a 98.6 percent chance at doing so. The Longhorns also have two crystal ball predictions in their favor on 247Sports to win this recruitment as well.

This recruitment feels like more of an uphill battle for Georgia, but it is still January so anything is possible.
