Alex Orji plans to transfer from Michigan, per report
Alex Orji is set to enter the transfer portal, according to a report.
Orji played significant snaps at quarterback for the Wolverines this season, but was ultimately replaced by Davis Warren in the starting lineup later in the season. He’ll now seek a new program to play for in 2025 and beyond, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Orji completed 23-of-44 passes this season for 148 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. His 3.4 yards per attempt this season ranked dead last out of 212 quarterbacks who attempted at least 40 passes this season.
While Orji was unable to accomplish much as a passer this season for the Wolverines, he was pretty effective as a runner. He managed 260 yards and 1 touchdown on 53 attempts this season. Notably, he carried the ball 3 times for 32 yards in Michigan’s shocking 13-10 win over Ohio State in Week 14.
Michigan is expected to pursue a starting quarterback in the transfer portal this offseason. However, the Wolverines also have an incoming freshman in 5-star prospect Bryce Underwood who could compete for the starting job. Underwood is the No. 1 overall player in the country for the 2025 cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Michigan will face Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31.
