LSU’s Mikaylah Williams Praises Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s Impact on WNBA, Reveals Reese’s Advice

LSU sophomore forward Mikaylah Williams is considered among the best prospects in the 2027 WNBA Draft. She will be joining a league that is steadily growing in popularity thanks to stars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

Williams voiced her admiration for both Clark and Reese and how they’ve impacted the WNBA.

At a Raising Cane’s event in Baton Rouge, La., at a location named “The Mothership,” Williams shouted out both Clark and Reese for how much they’ve helped the game. Williams also talked about her relationship with Reese, a fellow LSU Tiger who helped the university win the NCAA tournament in 2023.

“Angel and Caitlin are growing the women’s game like no other, and I’m glad to be able to follow in their footsteps,” Williams said. “I talk to Angel often, and she reached out after our game against Alabama, telling me to keep my head up and focus on what’s coming next.”

Williams and Reese played for LSU together during the 2023-24 season. Despite their talent, they weren’t as successful in the tournament as teammates with LSU being eliminated in the Elite Eight.

Since then, Reese has quickly become one of the WNBA’s rising stars while Williams has made a name for herself at LSU.
Williams was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2024 and has mostly kept the good times coming in her sophomore year. Her efforts over the last two years have her projected to be one of the top prospects for the 2027 WNBA Draft.

What Williams said about Reese and Clark’s impact on the league is undeniable. Following their rookie seasons, the WNBA revealed in a press release that the 2023-24 season featured the most-watched WNBA regular season on ESPN platforms ever, set a single-game attendance record, had the highest total attendance in 22 years, and set all-time records for digital consumption and merchandise sales.
