Here’s what the British government says regarding the upcoming classes for the 2025 ACU British Motocross Championship.

Following the recent announcement of modifications to the British Motocross Championship’s format and structure, the ACU is happy to announced the creation of new child and adult support classes for the 2025 season.

The series, which will resume in-house operations beginning next season, will include youngster, clubman, and amateur classes. Competitors will compete in a two-day schedule, with the new classes serving as feeder series for the main British MXGB Championship.

In an exciting first for the UK’s motorcycle sport governing body, the series will also include a British Women’s Motocross Championship division beginning in 2025.

Plans are also on to implement a new qualifying system through ACU club events next year, which would seed junior riders into the 2026 series.

Colin and Julie Hambridge, as well as Christine Heathcote, well-known and respected individuals in the athletic world, will organise the new British Motocross Championship classes. Colin (pictured) will work closely with Paul Irwin, the new Director of the ACU British Motocross Championship Series.

Matthew Edwards-Wear, ACU Secretary General, stated: “In planning this new championship, the ACU wants to make the British series as accessible as possible and create a system where talented riders can develop and progress through the youth and amateur classes while racing for British Championship titles.”

“In doing so, we want to enhance participation at all levels while directly addressing the issue of low entries that plagues many motocross events.

“The greatest riders have the opportunity to pursue a career as professional, elite motocross athletes. Racing in FIME and FIM Championship competition is an opportunity that only the ACU, the governing body of UK motorcycle sport and a founder member of the FIM, can provide.”

More information on the 2025 MXGB series will be available in the following weeks.
