REPORT: Angel Reese is upset and has sent a parting message to the WNBA rookie season.

Angel Reese bid farewell to her debut WNBA season before the Chicago Sky’s season-ending home game on Sunday, September 15.
Prior to the Sky’s game against the Phoenix Mercury (which Chicago lost 93-88), Reese turned to Instagram Stories to reminisce on her remarkable season. The 22-year-old attacker has been sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a wrist injury that necessitated surgery.

And, while the Sky still have two games remaining after the Mercury game and are vying for a playoff spot, Reese is unlikely to return even if the team makes the playoffs.

“ROOKIE YEAR WAS ONE FOR THE BOOKS,” Reese wrote along with a collage of photos of herself taken from various games throughout the 2024 season.

Angel Reese underwent successful surgery on her fractured left wrist on September 10. She previously said that it will take six weeks before she can return to her normal routine following the operation.

While it’s certainly disappointing that Reese wasn’t able to finish her first year in the WNBA, there’s no denying that it’s “one for the books” as she said. After all, she made plenty of history in 2024, including setting the WNBA record for longest double-double streak ever with 15.

Reese also holds the record for most double-doubles in a single season by a WNBA rookie with 24. She finished the campaign with averages of 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
