Amazing and wonderful moment for Novak Djokovic as he held to the Wimbledon semifinals.

Novak Djokovic is through to the Wimbledon semi-finals after Alex de Minaur withdrew from their last-eight match due to a hip ailment.

In Wednesday’s second match on Centre Court, the Australian ninth seed would face 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic, 37, receives a walkover and will face Lorenzo Musetti on Friday, hoping to reach the final for the sixth time in seven years.

“I’m heartbroken to be pulling out owing to a hip issue,” De Minaur said.

“I felt a loud shatter in the final three points of my match against [Arthur] Fils.

[I] had a scan yesterday, and it verified that this was the injury, with a significant danger of worsening if I stepped on the court.

De Minaur overcame Frenchman Fils in four sets on Monday, advancing to his first Wimbledon quarterfinal.

The 25-year-old estimated that the healing time would last three to six weeks.

“I’ve been trying to sleep for the past few days. “I feel it [while] walking,” De Minaur explained.

“I’m just hoping to wake up and feel it a little less, or at least enough to go on court.

“But, again, I believe it’s almost disrespectful for me to not go on the court close to completely versus someone likeNovak because there’s no sense in going out there unless I’m going out there to win.”

His absence aids Djokovic’s effort to capture a record eighth Wimbledon title and tie Roger Federer.

He has now reached his 13th Wimbledon semi-final, tying Federer for the record in the Open era.

Djokovic has appeared in great shape at SW19, despite having knee surgery just three weeks before the grass-court Grand Slam.

In the quarterfinals, he easily defeated Holger Rune, the 15th seed.

In his postgame interview, he accused supporters of insulting him, claiming they used a Rune chant as “an pretext to boo.”

Wimbledon administrators have filled the Centre Court vacancy with a second-round mixed doubles match between British combo Joe Salisbury and Heather Watson, who face Jan Zielinski of Poland and Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei.

Following that, Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua of Australia will face Germany’s Andrea Petkovic and Slovakia’s Magdalena Rybarikova in a women’s invitational doubles match.
