The Braves fell in both MLB.com and Bleacher Report’s MLB Power Rankings.
According to Will Leitch of MLB.com and Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report, the Braves have moved up from third to first place.
Leitch’s take: Welcome back to the number one spot, Braves: One suspects that our voters will regret having you anyplace else. How machine-like are the Braves at this point? Ronald Acuña Jr. has only one home run, while Austin Riley is hitting.259 with two homers. Max Fried has a 7.71 ERA, Spencer Strider is out for the season, and Sean Murphy has only played one game. And they remain 14-6, tied for baseball’s second-best record. They’re making it look too easy.
Reuter’s take: The Braves once again have baseball’s most potent offense, leading the majors with a.828 OPS and averaging 6.25 runs per game, which has helped them overcome a starting rotation that ranks 25th in the majors with a 4.85 ERA. Second baseman Ozzie Albies is out with a fractured toe, so defensive-minded Luis Guillorme will start there for the time being.
The Braves swept the Houston Astros in a three-game road series before defeating the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers 2-1 at home.
The Braves’ home stand continues this week with a three-game series against the Miami Marlins and Cleveland Guardians.
