BREAKING: Pittsburgh Steelers sign third quarterback amid Mike Tomlin’s comments about Russell Wilson’s job insecurity.

On Monday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Steelers added their third quarterback in two weeks. The agreement occurred hours after Pittsburgh’s head coach, Mike Tomlin, provided an update on the starting quarterback position.

Justin Fields and Russell Wilson will compete for the QB1 position.

Following Justin Fields’ trade from the Chicago Bears to the Steelers, Tomlin reportedly informed Russell Wilson that he would be the team’s starting quarterback in 2024. As previously discussed on GH, Tomlin stated on Sunday at the annual league meeting that Fields would get an opportunity to contend for the starting job this season. Wilson will get the majority of the first-team reps during OTAs this spring.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Kyle Allen to the roster.

With a quarterback competition about to start in Pittsburgh this summer during training camp, the Steelers signed a third quarterback for the roster. According to Ari Meirov with the 33rd Team, the Steelers signed quarterback Kyle Allen and defensive lineman Dean Lowry.

Allen is QB3…for now

The Carolina Panthers signed Allen as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He has also played for the Washington Football Team, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills.

Throughout his career, the Texas A&M product has thrown 4,734 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. The 28-year-old will most likely not start in Week 1. Mason Rudolph, on the other hand, began the 2023 season as Pittsburgh’s third-string quarterback and concluded the season as the first-string quarterback in the playoffs.
