REPORT: Kings Cook completes huge signing.

Xavier Cooks, a two-time champion and NBL23 MVP, is reportedly returning to the NBL in a deal labeled “the biggest in NBL history”.

On an emergency edition of The Marketplace, ESPN’s Olgun Uluc stated that he believed the Sydney Kings were about to re-sign their star player on a three-year contract

“My reporting as ESPN this evening is that Xavier Cooks has agreed to a new three-year deal to join the Sydney Kings,” he stated.

“I’ve been told that this is the largest deal in NBL history.”

“At no point in the league’s 46-year history has a player earned more per year than what Xavier Cooks is about to earn.

“This is a massive coup for the Sydney Kings, a huge coup for the NBL and Xavier Cooks is returning home.”

Uluc said that new coach Brian Goorjian was instrumental in getting Cooks back to the club, traveling to the Philippines with CEO Chris Pongrass to meet with their top signing target.

“The Kings placed Xavier Cooks at the very top of their list of priorities,” he stated.

“It was as mutual as it gets. Xavier Cooks has won back-to-back championships with the Sydney Kings and wants to win again.

Cooks left the Kings at the end of the NBL23 season and played 10 games for the Washington Wizards in the NBA before joining the Chiba Jets in Japan.
