Brittany Force makes a surprising reappearance after being out for a time, as……

Kent, Washington (AP) Brittany Force will return to her Top Fuel dragster this week in Seattle, her first race since her father John’s horrible accident in Virginia last month.

John Force Racing announced this week that, with 16-time NHRA champion John Force “responding nicely to therapy” for the catastrophic brain injury he sustained on June 23, daughter Brittany will race in the Northwest Nationals north of Seattle this weekend.

John Force’s disaster occurred during the Virginia Nationals, when his car experienced a catastrophic engine explosion near the finish line and impacted many times with the track’s barriers.

He was transported to a nearby acute care unit, where he was treated alongside his family, including Brittany.

Force was sent to a rehabilitation facility in California to complete his treatment.

“It has been a roller coaster of emotions for our family since Richmond,” Brittany stated in her statement. “But my dad has made remarkable improvement, and we are all very proud of him.”Brittany Force missed the most recent tournament, which took place last month in Norwalk, Ohio. She established a speed record of 334.73 mph at Pacific Raceway last year.

“It’s going to be hard not having my dad at the track with me this weekend,” Brittany Force said, “but I know he’ll be watching from his rehab facility.” Watching him battle his way back is what inspires me to go back in the winner’s circle.”

The most recent NHRA race occurred last month, not last week, as previously reported.
