Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane Makes Absurd Statement About Trading Up For Josh Allen

Brandon Beane, general manager of the Buffalo Bills, speaks with the media on Tuesday at the NFL Draft combine. He spoke with the media about trading up for quarterback Josh Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Beane spoke to the media on Tuesday about moving up in the 2018 NFL Draft to draft Allen seventh overall, saying:

“If he doesn’t work out, I won’t be here. And if he works out, nobody will care.”

Well luckily for Beane, Allen has worked out for him over the past six seasons. They have been one of the better NFL teams over the past several seasons. Buffalo has won the AFC East the last three seasons. They have yet to win a Super Bowl in the Josh Allen era, but have been to at least one AFC title game.

In two of the last three seasons, they have been eliminated by the Cincinnati Bengals once and the Kansas City Chiefs twice. They hope to get to a Super Bowl in the Josh Allen era.

Brandon Beane has done an excellent job developing this football club around him. Allen, 27 years old, is one of the NFL’s most brilliant quarterbacks, alongside Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane Drafted Another Version of Brett Favre by Taking Josh Allen.

Allen is one of the NFL’s most skilled quarterbacks, with a skill set reminiscent of former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre. They don’t care where they throw the football. Both throw many touchdown passes and are frequently intercepted.

Favre is in the NFL Hall of Fame. He did win a Super Bowl title and also an MVP. Allen has yet to win either of those. Last season, he completed 66.5% of his passes for 4,306 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. He also rushed for 524 yards on 111 carries and 15 touchdowns, along with averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

Luckily for Beane, the quarterback position is the main position in the NFL. Josh Allen was a zero-star recruit heading to college and played college football at Wyoming. He was very wild in college and had a lot of raw potential.

The fact that the Bills were able to develop him into one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in the NFL is a job well done. Buffalo wanted him to sit for a season in 2018 behind Nathan Peterman, but the Bills had to play Allen in the second half of the first game against the Baltimore Ravens because Peterman threw five interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens.

The rest is history for Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills. A quarterback trade-up rarely works out. Aside from them and the Kansas City Chiefs trading up for Patrick Mahomes, what else has worked well for teams recently when trading up? The answer is not much.

It is really difficult to evaluate this position. Fortunately for Buffalo, they made a slam dunk, and this will be a fantastic story that Beane will tell for the rest of his life.
