Buffalo Bills sign wide out who missed the 2023 season due to gambling penalty.
On Saturday, Brandon Beane stated that the team had worked out a free agency wide receiver who they hoped to sign. On Sunday, we discovered that the Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Quintez Cephus. Cephus’ agent, Sports Trust Advisors, announced the news on social media.
Cephus will return to the league after serving a year-long suspension for breaking the league’s gambling rules. Last April, the league punished Cephus, C.J. Moore, and Shaka Toney indefinitely for gambling. Cephus and Moore, former Detroit Lions teammates, were released shortly after the league announced the suspensions. The three players were reinstated on April 18.
Cephus only appeared in four games in 2022 due to a foot injury that landed him on the injured reserve. He recorded two receptions for 15 yards that season, but contributed more to the Lions offense in the two prior years when he hauled in 35 receptions for 553 yards and four touchdowns. In addition to playing on offense, Cephus contributed on special teams.
