Denny Hamlin explains how Joey Logano’s recent great performance has put pressure on NASCAR bubble drivers.

Joey Logano has yet to win a race this season, but it appears he is getting closer to Victory Lane.

Logano, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series winner, has shown improved speed recently, placing fifth at Gateway and sixth at Iowa on Sunday. Having said that, Logano is below the playoff cutoff with nine regular-season races remaining. But the gap is closing, as he is only six points behind Bubba Wallace for the 16th and final playoff spot. Logano is among numerous notables, including Kyle Busch, Chris Buescher and Alex Bowman hanging the near the playoff cutline without a victory to their record.

Speaking on his “Actions Detrimental” podcast this week, Denny Hamlin named Logano as the most dangerous driver lurking around the playoff bubble.

“I mean if you’re on the bubble, you probably shouldn’t be focused too much on the others, but you always gotta count for at least one more driver outside the current playoff window to win a race. And so, the cutline will move you would think one more spot,” Logano said. “Again, I think that of all the bubble drivers, Logano’s car, team, driver all have the biggest upside. They’ve underperformed compared to what their standards are from a few years ago. To me, they’re the most dangerous bubble team to winning for these other drivers.”
