Despite a shorter weekend due to the weather, Chase Elliott edges over Kyle Larson and Kyle Busch.

Chase Elliott has beaten his teammate Kyle Larson and Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch, despite the fact that severe weather disrupted the weekend’s agenda.

Despite having two of his three drives cut short due to weather, the #9 Chevrolet driver put in more laps during Memorial Day Weekend. Kyle Larson had his sights set on his first Double Duty, but inclement weather forced the Californian to abandon his Memorial Day weekend pursuit. The #5 Chevrolet driver was intended to finish the doubleheader by running 1100 miles or 600 laps.

He could only make an appearance at the Indy 500 because the race had already been red-flagged on Lap 249 when he arrived in Charlotte, giving Larson the opportunity to run the Coca-Cola 600.

Nonetheless, the dire conditions and extreme moisture in the atmosphere prompted the officials to call off the race and the HMS driver’s weekend ended with just 200 laps or 500 miles of run.

Kyle Busch, on the other hand, competed in both the Xfinity Series BetMGM 300 and the Coca-Cola 600.

The RCR driver completed 200 circuits in the NXS and 249 laps in the Cup Series race, bringing his total to 449 laps or 673.50 miles of action.

Chase Elliott, on the other hand, outperformed both drivers in the Xfinity Series, Cup Series, and Super Late Model races all in the same weekend.

Despite starting 30th, the Georgian dominated the NXS race. He completed 200 laps and then 249 laps in the Coca-Cola 600.

This brought him on level terms with Busch, but Elliott’s third stint, the ASA Tar Heel 250 helped him edge out Busch. Chase Elliott’s weekend tally stood at 578 laps or 722.91 miles of high-octane run.

Chase Elliott feels “super special” after capturing his Xfinity triumph in Charlotte.

Chase Elliott struggled in qualifying and started his Xfinity race in 30th place. The 28-year-old struggled at first but continued to look for ways to get an advantage over the group.

The turn of events happened after Ryan Ellis collided on Lap 170 and issued the caution. Several drivers took advantage of the chance and pitted for a fresh set of compounds. However, Chase Elliott’s crew chief Greg Ives’ brilliant planning gave the 2014 NXS champion with a full set of brand-new tires, which the other teams did not have.

The strategic move benefitted the #17 Chevy as he took the lead from Sam Mayer on Lap 183 restart. From that point, Elliott reigned supreme, fended off Brandon Jones, and dashed toward the checkered flag for his maiden Xfinity Series win this season.Post his triumph, the HMS driver outlined his run to Fox reporter Josh Sims and said:

“My team did a really good job. Greg (Ives, crew chief) made a good call on the tires, and I think ultimately that was what won us the race. I felt I needed a little bit with my balance and make as much pace as (Justin Allgaier) and a couple of those other guys.”

“Hats off to everybody at Hendrick Motorsports. It’s super-special to win with the No. 17 on the car for the boss (Rick Hendrick) and Linda,” Elliott added as he paid tribute to Rick Hendrick’s late son Ricky [#17 car driver].

With a solitary Cup Series win, five top-5s, and seven top-10s, Chase Elliott is placed 4th in the rankings.
