The Detroit Lions have missed one day of structured summer exercises after violating on-field contact guidelines during a session last month.
According to a statement released on Friday, the NFL and the NFL Players Association alerted the team of the breach during the week of May 27.
According to the NFL, the club held organized team activities (OTAs) on May 21-23 and 29-31. Detroit scheduled its final OTAs Monday through Wednesday before training camp next month.
However, with the violation, they lost Monday’s workout and won’t be able to return until Tuesday.
“We take very seriously the rules set forth within the NFL’s Offseason Program and have worked to conduct our practices accordingly,” the Lions said in the statement. “We will continue to be vigilant with our practices moving forward.”
