Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton had a tense conversation in the cooling room before the podium at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, with the former coming under fire from Formula 1 fans for his remarks about his fellow Brit.
Hamilton finished third, securing his 200th career podium, but the weird, drama-filled race that lingered into the cooling room overshadowed this historic accomplishment.

A dramatic finish to the race had everyone wondering if Norris would obey team orders and change spots. McLaren persuaded Norris to swap with his teammate Oscar Piastri after a series of convincing but uncomfortable radio transmissions. The British ultimately played the team game, but wasn’t happy about it. This led to a tense conversation between him and Hamilton in the cooldown room.
When Norris entered the room, Hamilton complemented the McLaren driver, saying “Wow, you guys are quick!”
We’ve heard this statement before, but Norris got it entirely wrong. Norris, clearly still upset by the race outcome and his team’s actions, responded quickly with: “You had a fast vehicle seven years ago.”
Hamilton replied: “Seven years ago? Long time. Were you here seven years ago?” Norris, who is now in his sixth season in F1 after arriving on the scene in 2019, responded: “Yeah, well, you had a quick car, you made the most of it, and now it’s us.”
The Mercedes driver was perplexed by Norris’ angry attitude, adding: “I wasn’t complaining; I was only appreciating your car.”
Fortunately, Oscar Piastri, the race winner, joined the two before Norris could further ruin his reputation. The three drivers then discussed the most dramatic moments of Sunday’s race at the Hungaroring.

Lando Norris has rightfully lost his cool in the unfortunate situation McLaren put him in during the Hungarian Grand Prix. Piastri led every lap after passing his McLaren teammate in turn one at the start of the race. After a mediocre first half, things picked up as we approached the finish line.
Pitstop drama saw Norris take the lead as McLaren pitted him ahead of teammate Piastri to hold off Hamilton. Norris emerged ahead of his teammate after pitting at the Hungaroring circuit, which favours the undercut. After successfully undercutting Piastri, Norris drove away into a clear-sky sunset.
A tense McLaren pit wall issued Norris repeated team commands to enable the Australian driver to pass. Three circuits before the checkered flag, Norris slowed on the main straight, allowing the papaya cars to trade positions.
