“I felt really good today, the feeling was there; however, I had problems with the front brakes.” – Marc Márquez

Marc Márquez concluded the GP of the Americas without scoring on Sunday. The Spanish cyclist fell after passing Pedro Acosta and grabbing the lead in the race.

In a post-race debrief, the Gresini Racing MotoGP™ rider shared his emotions and the incident that forced him to withdraw from the GP of the Americas.

– ‘I felt really good today, the feeling was there, but I had unexpected front brake problems for almost the whole race. The pace of the race wasn’t that high and when I got ahead there was one time when I braked and didn’t feel anything and the second time I went a bit faster, but I still lost the front. The most important thing is that I feel competitive and this has given me a good mentality.

When asked if the cause of the brake problems was the reason for wanting to take the race lead as soon as possible in order to cool down the brakes, Marc replied: ‘Yes, going to the front was the goal to see if anything would improve the brakes, but today the feeling in the brakes kept changing at every corner, and that was my biggest worry, which ended up costing me a mistake and a crash. You know that when I crash, I accept responsibility, but today it was a technical issue. Today, we made a mistake and required an answer; that is what matters. The team is still a bit weak on that, but in the future, we will have more answers, that’s what matters.
