Providence head coach Kim English discusses what Devin Carter will contribute to the Kings.

The Sacramento Kings acquired another guard to their lineup on Wednesday night, selecting Providence’s Devin Carter with the 13th choice in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Carter, 22, was named Big East Player of the Year in 2023-24 and earned All-Big East First Team honors. Carter, who is 6’3, concluded the season ranked third in rebounds per game (8.7) and total rebounds (286) among Big East players.

During Thursday’s episode of The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, Carter’s college head coach and former NBA guard Kim English joined the boys to talk about the newest Kings’ skills, what Carter will bring to Sacramento, and more.

What are the Kings getting in Devin Carter?

“What you’re getting is an elite on-ball defender, an elite one-on-one defender… You can put him on a player and let him do his thing… If you’re bored, go watch Devin Carter blocks against the University of Oklahoma… Offensively, he’s a blur in transition. He has funky shot mechanics, but took seven threes a game at 40 percent… I just couldn’t be happier.”

English says that Carter is “just a guy that everyone loves to be around.”
