Great news:Hearing set for proposed expansion, redevelopment of Burnsville Center

A major redevelopment proposed for the aging Burnsville Center is set to go before city officials for a vote this month.

The Burnsville Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing and vote Monday on a proposed 15,000-square-foot, two-story addition to the space formerly occupied by Gordmans.

The exterior overhaul is intended to create an enhanced entrance for the mall’s northern extension,

The expansion will incorporate three new restaurant spaces and act as a gateway to the new shops and restaurants, according to Adam Meyer, Principal of Studio M Architects.

The tenants on the first floor will have patio dining opportunities and a large, landscaped plaza,” Meyer wrote in a letter to city officials. “The plaza will create [an] entry and welcoming transition from the parking to the grocery and food hall.”

According to the plans, a second-floor tenant will have a main entrance from the upper parking lot and internal access will be provided between floors and to the grocery store and food hall.

The Windfall Group acquired the mall’s northern extension in early 2022 with plans to a construct a plaza-style, Asian shopping and dining hub.The development — called Pacifica Square — will be anchored by Enson Market, an Asian supermarket chain, and Bullvinos Brazilian Steakhouse, which has a location in St. Paul’s lowertown. The planned food hall fare includes Mango Mango, Pho2, Chattime, Tour Les Jour, Bonchon, Lu’s Sandwiches and Teriyaki King
