The Green Bay Packers quarterback makes a surprising announcement about his future.

The Green Bay Packers made the difficult decision to part ways with All-Pro offensive lineman David Bakhtiari this offseason. Many may have foreseen the move based on his $40 million cap hit in 2024, but it also tugged at the hearts of many Packers supporters.

Bakhtiari has been suffering with knee troubles after tearing his ACL in December 2020. It was an injury that undoubtedly hampered his entire career. Now a free agent, he spoke with reporter Ian Rapoport about what is next for him.

Former Green Bay Packers tackle David Bakhtiari talks to Ian Rapoport about his future.

When the Packers dismissed All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari, there were some worries about what came next. My impression is that he is aggressively recovering and plans to return to play this season. He is taking it as it comes. But they intend to play.

Bakhtiari, as previously noted, has been struggling with knee troubles since tearing his ACL late in the 2020 season. After missing almost the whole 2021 season, he appeared in 11 games in 2022.

In 2023, he missed all but one game. A second surgery, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season, put him on injured reserve in late September.

Earlier this month, the Packers released him.

During his career, Bakhtiari has earned two first-team All-Pro honors and three second-team All-Pro honors. At the end of September, he will turn 33.

It is very likely that at contender will take a flyer on the veteran left tackle if he continues his plan to play in 2024.
