The Miami Dolphins are stepping up their Super Bowl Lix plans by giving Odell Beckham Jr. a deal.
The Miami Dolphins have extended an offer to Odell Beckham Jr., which could indicate that the receiver would join quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the AFC East franchise’s offense.
Beckham Jr. is now a free agent after signing a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens worth $15 million (£12 million), helping the team win the AFC Championship in his return to action. The 31-year-old would miss the whole 2022 season after tearing his ACL in Super Bowl LVI, when he grabbed a touchdown in the Los Angeles Rams’ win.
Last season, Beckham Jr played in 14 games for the Ravens and averaged a career-high 16.1 yards per reception. However, he only managed 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns in a somewhat disappointing 2023 for the former superstar.
While Beckham Jr. only played more than 60% of the offensive snaps in one game with the Ravens, he continues to fetch a high price for his services as the former LSU wideout nears the end of his career. Teams have so far been unwilling to fulfill his demands due to his injury history and age, but the Dolphins have made the first move, citing links to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the end, Miami hopes to enhance their third receiver position after Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Both Hill and Waddle had received over 1,000 yards in the last two seasons, although only tight end Durham Smythe had more than 300 yards (366).
