Jordan Love’s contract extension with the Green Bay Packers is at risk after GM announces new regulations.

The Packers’ general manager wants Jordan Love’s contract extension signed before the 2024 NFL training camp.

Jordan Love, the Green Bay Packers quarterback, could be cashing in on a big paycheck soon. During an appearance on 97.3 The Game, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst stated there is mutual interest in extending Love’s contract this summer. “We’re having those conversations right now.

I think the beautiful thing about this is that none of these things are necessarily simple or quick, but both parties desire the same thing,” Gutekunst explained. “We’d like to get this done before training camp for sure.”

Love is projected to earn $11 million in the 2024 season, the final year of his present contract and far below the current market value for top-tier quarterbacks.

Gutekunst stated that slow-moving negotiations are the norm, but he remains optimistic that the two parties will achieve an agreement.

“Stability at that position really allows you to have some security with the way we build our team,” he stated.

“We’re looking forward to getting that done, but it never goes fast.” Despite his uncertain contract status, Love reported for the start of Green Bay’s offseason program.

While he has provided no signals that he might hold out of training camp, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky noted that Love gave a vague answer when asked whether he is willing to play the 2024 season on his current contract.

“We’ll see,” Love said last month. “I don’t know yet. We’ll see.”

This offseason has been quieter than recent years regarding big-money extensions for quarterbacks. Detroit Lions signal-caller Jared Goff is the most notable player to receive a deal, signing a four-year, $212 million extension. In addition to Love, players like Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott, Jacksonville Jaguars star Trevor Lawrence and Miami Dolphins star Tua Tagovailoa are believed to be in line for extensions this summer.

It sounds like the Packers are committed to getting a deal done sooner rather than later, so Love could be the one to set the market for the rest of the quarterbacks waiting to receive their deals.
