Just in: The young RC Lens talent is set to make it huge in a Rangers deal as agreement…

Oscar Cortes will land a four-year contract and a “huge” pay rise if he thrives during his loan spell at Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.

The Colombia international joined the Ibrox giants on loan for the remainder of the season on deadline day from RC Lens.

The Gers have an option to buy the winger in the summer, which will be triggered if he meets performance-related targets in the second half of the season.

If he impresses manager Philippe Clement and Rangers chiefs, he is expected to earn an improvement to his weekly salary and a long-term contract running until 2028.

Cortes joined RC Lens in the summer from Colombian top-flight side Millonarios for a reported fee of £4million, but he only managed to pick up four appearances in Ligue 1 – all from the bench.

Across 40 total minutes played in the league, he managed to pick up one goal and one assist.

He became Rangers’ third signing in the winter window after the additions of Wolves striker Fabio Silva on loan and midfielder Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland.

Rangers had been keen for added depth to their frontline before the window closed, with Cortes able to play as an out-and-out centre-forward or an attacking midfielder.

Cortes made regular appearances for Colombia’s under-20s side before earning his senior debut in June 2023 in an international friendly against Iraq.
