Kyle Larson talks his viral post on Chase Elliott joining Joe Gibbs Racing.

Christopher Bell said Friday afternoon that “Chase” will replace Martin Truex Jr. at Joe Gibbs Racing in 2025. Bell was talking about Chase Briscoe, but Kyle Larson had a better suggestion. Despite being caught off guard, Larson went on X and wished Chase Elliott the best of luck on his “new adventure at Joe Gibbs Racing”.

Larson concluded his message with, “Good luck, #d19.” The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series winner was joking when he was asked about his Elliott post on Saturday. Larson began to giggle and mentioned his tweet and Bell’s gaffe at his news conference.

“I was really proud of [the Chase Elliott post],” Larson said. “I was typing it so fast, I couldn’t wait to get it out. I texted [Christopher Bell] and [Chase Briscoe], I think before I even sent that tweet, that I was dying laughing. It was so hilarious. I mean, that’s the greatest way to announce somebody coming to a team, I think.”

“I’m sure PR departments have been planning this extravagant, very professional thing. They got way more clicks for that once they finally do announce it…I’m sure [Bell] will be at a much higher awareness now. Yeah, I think you can probably trust him going forward.”

Larson and Elliott are still teammates, but it didn’t come without excitement. The driver of the No. 5 car will now look forward to the USA TODAY 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend. Ironically, Larson is chasing down Elliott for the lead in the Cup Series point standings after he wrecked at Iowa Speedway last Sunday.
