Would like to see it a little bit more fair” – Kyle Larson makes feeling known about potential NASCAR playoff format change

Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson recently shared his thoughts on the current NASCAR playoff format. Despite winning six races, he did not make it to the Championship 4.Larson was eliminated after the Round of 8 last weekend at Martinsville. He missed the final round by just seven points. When Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass questioned him about possible changes, Larson explained that while playoffs are exciting, they could be made more fair.

“I haven’t really thought about it a whole lot this week, but yeah, sure, I think there’s probably ways that could keep it compelling. But also maybe a little bit more fair at the same point. There’s no question that the playoffs are really exciting and the format produces excitement, so you don’t want to get rid of that, but at the same point, yeah, I mean, you’d like to see it a little bit more fair, and maybe this is the fairest way, I don’t know,” Larson said.

The 32-year-old had an average finish of 13 this year and won races at Vegas, Kansas, Sonoma, Indianapolis, Bristol and the Charlotte Roval.

“I’d like to be raced for a championship, but it didn’t work out for us in the round of eight, so it’s kind of the format, and yeah, just got to do better, I guess. Next time we win more stages and more races,” he added.

Larson had to skip the Coca-Cola 600 in May after he tried to race in the Indy 500 during the same weekend. This decision cost him important points.

Still trying to figure out all my plans” – Kyle Larson talks about post-season plans and deleting Twitter

In another recent interview with Frontstretch, Kyle Larson talked about his off-season plans for dirt racing and a trip to Australia.

“I’ll do a handful of races for sure. Still trying to figure out all my plans, but I’ve got some races coming up in the next few weeks, and then I’ll go to Australia. That’s the for sure races I’m doing right now,” Larson said.

He also mentioned deleting Twitter recently, when asked about the talk on the social media platform that he should replace Championship 4 driver William Byron.

“I recently deleted Twitter a few weeks ago. So I’ve been kind of in the dark on a lot of stuff,” he added.

The final race for the 2024 season is scheduled for this Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, where Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, William Byron and Tyler Reddick will compete for the championship title.
