Oratory Prep veteran Guard Commits to Providence Friars

Oratory Prep Graduate Tommy Hunt has committed to run Division I for Providence College.

Looking to Study Accounting at Providence Starting in the Fall.

Summit, New Jersey – Tommy Hunt of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey has committed to attending Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, beginning in the fall of 2024. While there, he plans to major in accounting. Go, Friars! Hunt has achieved records as a runner at Oratory Prep in Summit, where he has attended since 2020.

Hunt has competed in cross country, winter track, and spring track for the past four years. As an upperclassman, he captained all three teams and won multiple MVP trophies.

As an upperclassman, he has held the title of captain for all three teams and collected numerous MVP awards. As captain, he has led his teams to multiple championships and All-American status at Nike Outdoor Nationals in 2023.

On the course and track this year, Hunt has performed at an elite level. During the fall cross country season, Hunt was the Union County Mountain Division champion and ran a career-best 16:18 5K to win the Last Chance XC Championship. In the winter, Hunt was the Union County Champion and Non-Public A State Champion in the 800 meter race. He also earned Nike All-American status in the sprint medley. This Spring, Hunt set the school record in the 400 meter (49.46 seconds) and the 800 meter (1:53.05) while winning both races at the Conference Championship.

In mid-June, Hunt and other qualifying members of the OP track team will return for the second straight year to compete at Nike Nationals in Eugene, Oregon.

Tommy Hunt and the Oratory Prep Seniors celebrated their graduation on Saturday, June 1st on Oratory’s Cavalero Field.
