Packers GM Makes Bold Statement About Jordan Love’s Future.

The Green Bay Packers appear to be in capable hands with quarterback Jordan Love, and general manager Brian Gutekunst anticipates a bright future with him.

Gutekunst praised his young quarterback during a recent SiriusXM NFL Radio broadcast.

“Obviously, there’s going to be new challenges coming forward this year and beyond, but the way he’s represented this organization and this team as a leader, we couldn’t be happier about,” Gutekunst stated. “Certainly he played at a very, very high level at the second half of last year and I think sky’s the limit for him.”

Love, who played collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by the Packers with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent his first three seasons backing up Aaron Rodgers, but a door was opened for Love to start when Green Bay traded Rodgers to the New York Jets last year. Love struggled in the early going of 2023, but broke out in the second half, throwing 18 touchdowns and only one pick over the Packers’ last eight games. Green Bay went 6-2 in 2023.

Love then threw three more touchdown passes without a pick in a Wild Card Round victory over the Dallas Cowboys, increasing his total to 21 touchdowns and one interception in nine games. The Packers eventually lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round, but they led into the fourth quarter.

In the 2023 season, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2% of his passes and garnering a passer rating of 96.1.

While the judgment is still out on whether Jordan Love can play at a high level for an entire season, it appears that the Packers have discovered their franchise quarterback once again.
