Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II admits the team was initially against the new kick-off rule change but eventually voted with consensus.
The Steelers were initially opposed to modifications to NFL kickoffs, but eventually voted in support of them.
According to owner Art Rooney II, the Steelers voted primarily on the basis of general consensus.
“We wound up voting for it after it was a foregone conclusion that it was going to pass,” Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
“There was not a lot of enthusiasm to start” due to the new rule’s huge impact on kick-offs.
“It’s a dramatic change, no way around that,” Rooney said. “We had some reservations because of that. It’s going to be interesting.”
The 49ers, Raiders and Packers were the only teams to vote against the new change.
