Providence has announced good news about Garwey Dual.

Garwey Dual, a Providence freshman guard, intends to transfer, according to 247Sports sources.

The 6-foot-4 point guard is ranked 47th overall in the 2023 recruiting class.

Dual played in 33 games, six of which he started, and averaged 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 18.6 minutes per game.

The transfer site will launch on March 18th and remain active until Wednesday, May 1st.

A player can request a transfer by submitting paperwork to their present school at any time within that window, and the paperwork must be submitted to the NCAA Portal database within 48 hours of receipt.

Before the window opens on March 18th and after the window closes on May 1st, players who have earned enough credits to graduate are able to enter the portal at any time, listed as a “Grad Transfer”.

Simultaneously, with any coaching movement – whether a head coach is fired or gets another job – players of that team are also given a 30-day window in which they can enter the portal which is not bound to the March 18th-May 1st window.

When a player has officially entered the portal, other schools are permitted to contact the player and begin the recruiting process.

This offseason also brings a new rule that will have a significant impact on the transfer market.

In recent years, players were allowed a one-time transfer waiver, and if they transferred again, the NCAA required a waiver to be instantly eligible.

Transfers this spring are expected to be instantly eligible for the 2024-25 season, according to a new NCAA directive.
