Providence Friar Center has announced that they will play with the New Orleans Pelicans NBA Summer League team.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Providence College center Josh Oduro (Gainesville, Va.) will be playing for the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2024 NBA Summer League. The 2024 NBA Summer League will run from July 12-24 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oduro made his imprint in the BIG EAST between 2023-24. He transferred to Providence after four years at George Mason. Oduro, who finished 10th in the BIG EAST in scoring (15.9), was also seventh in blocked shots (1.3), fifth in field goal percentage (.527), seventh in free-throw percentage (.819), fifth in defensive rebounds (5.2), sixth in rebounding (7.5), and ninth in offensive rebounds (2.3). He had five double-doubles in 2023-24. Oduro also had nine performances of 20 or more points, including a season-high 32 points against Creighton on February 7. For his efforts, he received Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST. He was also selected to play in the 2024 NABC Reese’s Division 1 All-Star Game on April 2.

“Josh is a special player,” Head Coach Kim English said. “This season, he competed against some of the top players in the country in the BIG EAST and he put up impressive numbers while earning All-BIG EAST honors. I am excited to see him in the NBA Summer League where he will have an opportunity to work hard, show his ability further and continue taking steps to earn a roster spot in the NBA.”

During his five seasons of collegiate basketball, Oduro scored 1,913 points (12.9 ppg) and he grabbed 976 rebounds (6.6 rpg). He also shot 52.7 percent (740-1,404) from the field.
