Wilkins signed with the Raiders in free agency this offseason after spending his first five NFL seasons as a formidable defensive tackle with the Miami Dolphins.

Wilkins revealed his departure from Miami during a recent appearance on the “Third and Long” podcast.

“Obviously, it’s definitely like a, it’s just such a transition,” Wilkins told reporters. “… There was nothing more I wanted to do than make Miami a winner and give this city, these people, and this organization what they deserved.”

“So, that was, obviously, just a lot of my focus just to at least do my part. Whatever that was — from a leadership standpoint, from a playing standpoint, from a community standpoint, I just try to always do my part and put my best foot forward there and just put, literally, my heart and soul into every aspect of everything while I was here with the Dolphins.

“So obviously, then now, it’s different; it’s a little tough now moving to another organization after you put so much into a team and an organization, but I definitely feel like I’m ready for it. I’m excited for this new challenge and I definitely feel like it’s part of my purpose, and it’s just part of guys playing for me just to shine my light in another city and another location.

“And that’s exactly what Power Rangers do: they travel wherever there’s a need for some butt-kicking and a fight against evil forces. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in Angel Grove or Planet Phaedo. Okay, I’m being really nerdy right now with the Power Rangers stuff, but you’ve got to follow me.

“… So, like I said, I’m definitely excited to be doing it another city, another location and another storied, historic organization and franchise, so I couldn’t ask to be in a better situation , and I’m just hitting the ground running and I’m locked in.”
