Here are the reasons why Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian has signed for divorce.

Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, has opened up to fans about his health fight, admitting that he has Lyme disease.

The 41-year-old announced the diagnosis on social media on Tuesday, claiming it came as a surprise because he had “no symptoms”.

Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which is primarily transmitted to people through tick bites.

The condition, which is most typically caught in the northeast, mid-Atlantic, and upper Midwest regions of the United States, is treatable with antibiotics.

“After undergoing a complete battery of health scans and testing, I discovered I have Lyme disease. Ohanian wrote “Wild” on X.

“No symptoms, luckily, but we’ll treat.”

Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, discussed several test results, including his cholesterol and testosterone levels, before sharing a tale about a loved one who had Lyme illness.

“I’ve got a loved one who had it a few years ago, had tonnes (of) symptoms, and simply couldn’t figure it out until they tested him for it and then identified it (and treated it effectively),” Ohanian added.

The father-of-two stated that he spent “such little time” in the wilderness and northeast parts of the United States, so learning he had Lyme disease was “very surprising.”

Ohanian ended his presentation on a lighthearted note, posting an image of an animated tick figure giving a thumbs up.

“Anyway, I’m going to get some antibiotics – can’t keep me down, tick!” Ohanian added.

Lyme disease symptoms commonly include a rash that begins as a tiny patch and gradually grows in size, fever, exhaustion, and joint discomfort, stiffness, or edoema.

However, some persons diagnosed with the condition may continue to suffer symptoms even after receiving antibiotics.

Ohanian and Williams have been married for seven years, having tied the wedding in 2017.

The entrepreneur and tennis star have two kids together: Alexis Olympia, who goes by her middle name, and Adira River, who was born in August last year.

Olympia, now six years old, was recently photographed on the red carpet with Williams and Ohanian at the 2024 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.

Ohanian wore a black suit and tie, while Williams looked stunning in a floor-length black gown with diamante accents, beside her daughter, who wore a silver dress and sandals.
